Africa is a continent of more than 1.3 Billion people, a third of whom are at or below the international poverty line of $2.15 a day. That's 460 million people (UNCTAD)!
6 million children under 15 die each year worldwide, according to Our World in Data, with 80% of those under 5 from Africa, and 70% of those 5-15 also from Africa, mainly due to malnutrition,
infectious diseases, and poor healthcare (UNICEF).
35 armed conflicts are ongoing across the continent (The Geneva Academy).
44 million people in Africa have been forcibly displaced (UNHCR, 2023).
Only 7 out of 54 African countries offer free education from elementary to secondary school, and for others, the cost is an average of $200 per child (Human Rights Watch).
98 million children in Sub-Saharan Africa are not in school (UNESCO).
47% of the entire population of Africa is under the age of 18 (Statista)!
Many non-profit leaders are sending money back to Africa to send children to schools, dig wells, provide healthcare, and more.
These non-profit leaders often lack the capacity to raise money, and do not have the money to build capacity. They are nurses, pharmacists, truck drivers, accountants, and more, sending a portion of each paycheck to help impoverished communities.
With the proper guidance, training, and support, these non-profit leaders can increase their capacity, expand their donor bases, and build sustainable non-profit organizations!
Our organization's leaders have provided support to non-profit organizations for more than 20 years, including organizations serving in Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa.
With donor support, we can train more non-profit leaders and build brighter communities across Africa!
The mission of Building Brighter African Communities is to train and equip
non-profit leaders serving disadvantaged communities across
Africa to birth hope for a brighter future.
The organization envisions a future where communities across Africa
have the resources and leadership they need to meet the
needs of severely disadvantaged peoples.
Every dollar invested in building non-profit capacity returns $20 in future donations within 2 years.
Non-profit leaders who have passion but who lack capacity will benefit from training and coaching they could not afford.
$100 a month will sponsor a non-profit organization with the ability to build their board, create a strategic plan, develop programs and partnerships, market to donors, and raise more money.
$50 a month will co-sponsor a non-profit organization in need of guidance, training, and support.
$25 a month, together with support from other donors, can co-sponsor a non-profit leader and her/his organization.
The needs across Africa are tremendous. Over 80,000 children are dying each week due to malnutrition, infectious diseases, poor healthcare, and trauma (Our World in Data). The time is now to help non-profit leaders make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged communities.
